It all depends on what kind of emotion you want to evoke, but for all around best, I like the one that is in the bottom right. The tones really pop out in this one, and the color filter is nice. You say the top two are more of a traditional hell look, but Dante's inferno was definitely not "traditional" in terms of what we think of hell. Like when they get closer to hell, it doesn't get hotter, it actually get colder, and the forest of suicides if the 7th level out of 9. Also, he played with the use of three a lot, so your composition makes sense. But i'm not sure if that's what you are going for...or if 3 trees were intentional hahah
